Caruthers is a census-designated place (CDP) in Fresno County, California, United States. The population was 2,497 at the 2010 census, up from 2,103 at the 2000 census. Caruthers is located 15 miles (24 km) south of downtown Fresno,[6] at an elevation of 246 feet (75 m).[5]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 2.0 square miles (5.2 km2), all of it land.

The first post office in Caruthers opened in 1891.[6] The name honors W.A. Caruthers, a local farmer.[6]

The 2010 United States Census[8] reported that Caruthers had a population of 2,497. The population density was 1,234.6 people per square mile (476.7/km²). The racial makeup of Caruthers was 1,224 (49.0%) White, 14 (0.6%) African American, 38 (1.5%) Native American, 221 (8.9%) Asian, 0 (0.0%) Pacific Islander, 904 (36.2%) from other races, and 96 (3.8%) from two or more races.
