Amery is a city in Polk County, Wisconsin, United States, along the Apple River. The population was 2,902 at the 2010 census. The city was named in honor of William Amery, a carpenter who held several local offices in the 1870s.[6]

Amery is located at 45°18′35″N 92°21′46″W / 45.30972°N 92.36278°W / 45.30972; -92.36278 (45.309747, -92.362782).[7]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.61 square miles (9.35 km2), of which, 2.96 square miles (7.67 km2) is land and 0.65 square miles (1.68 km2) is water.[8]

As of the census[3] of 2010, there were 2,902 people, 1,286 households, and 705 families residing in the city. The population density was 980.4 inhabitants per square mile (378.5/km2). There were 1,445 housing units at an average density of 488.2 per square mile (188.5/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 97.3% White, 0.1% African American, 0.8% Native American, 0.3% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 0.4% from other races, and 0.9% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.2% of the population.
